Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in PPEL (philosophy, political science, economics, and law) with a focus on economics. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a tutor with a professional tutoring service. After graduation, I served in a variety of capacities that gave me more experience as an educator. I received a Fulbright grant to travel to Malaysia to work as an English Teaching Assistant. Upon my return, I served as an office associate with Teach For Bangladesh, a program similar to Teach For America. At present, I volunteer at the YMCA, where I tutor ESL students on their homework and academic skills.As a tutor, I spend time getting to know my students' preferred learning styles, their present skill level, and the concepts they need help on. I then formulate a unique learning plan for each student. I use teaching techniques that meet their needs to help them achieve their academic goals. I'm able to work with students ranging from elementary schoolers to college students in algebra, calculus, geometry, writing, reading, literature, economics, and English, which is my favorite course to tutor. I enjoy assisting students who are preparing for standardized tests like the ACT, GRE, HSPT, ISEE, SAT, and SSAT. I am also an IB Diploma graduate, so I have personal knowledge of the skills necessary to succeed in IB-level courses. I am a creative, patient, and empathetic tutor who loves to see students achieve their academic goals.When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy cooking, drawing, swimming, and reading.
