Lacey S.
Private tutor in Bloomington, IN
Education
I have a PhD in Comparative Literature (focus on American and Latin American literature) from University of Southern California; an MA in Philosophy from University of Sussex; and a BA in English and Spanish from Santa Clara University. I have a long history of writing scholarships, grants, and publications.
Experience
In high school I scored a 5 on the AP Spanish exam and got 680 on SAT II in Spanish. My overall SAT score was 1430/1600. Since high school, I have continued studying Spanish, writing, and reading extensively. I have taught at the high school and university level for 10 years. As a university professor, I teach composition, literature, and Spanish language. As a high school tutor, I teach creative writing, argumentative writing, personal statements, and Spanish language. I love learning and am always happy to expand my repertoire! For example, I am currently teaching myself how to code in Python! When teaching, I build a personal relationship with students, provide real-world context, and center lessons around key concepts and problems. Students consistently report that they feel comfortable asking questions and practicing new knowledge with me. I have lived in Arizona, California, England, Spain and Guatemala.
