Education: B.S., Physics, University of Notre Dame 2008 M.A., Astronomy, Indiana University 2012 Ph.D., Astronomy, Indiana University anticipated 2016 I have been the primary instructor for both A100 - The Solar System and A105 - Stars & Galaxies at IU, and also I have worked as the associate instructor (AI) for all introductory-level astronomy courses offered at IU for the last seven years.
Experience
I have tutored astronomy and physics for both Indiana University and University of Notre Dame undergrads in the past as an independent instructor. I enjoy teaching and have a strong record as both a professor and a teaching assistant. My teaching philosophy is that anyone can look up facts about science in a textbook or online, so I focus on teaching the underlying principles of astronomy and of the scientific method so that the core foundation of what is being taught can flourish. I have previously worked as the outreach coordinator for the IU Department of Astronomy and have previously been awarded the Goethe Link Prize in Outreach and Public Education.
